Wynn Resorts’ Encore to start hiring for thousands of jobs.

We knew they were coming, the approx. 5,300 new jobs at Encore on the Las Vegas Strip. In July, Wynn Resorts is expected to start filling the positions. Encore is expected to enjoy a December 2008 opening.

The opening of this beautiful property is a good way to close out what has been (and could continue to be) an atrocious year for the Las Vegas Strip and local real estate market. Sadly, the announcement of the thousands of new jobs got very little media attention. No surprise.

If Las Vegas ever expects to recover from its current woes, its power players are going to need to start putting their foot down - making sure that it’s not just the negative stories that get reported.
